Aether Privacy Policy

1. Who this covers

This policy applies to the Aether mobile app published by Seven Alpha Labs ("we," "our," or "us"). It is separate from, and replaces for this app, the policy that covers our web services. Aether works differently from those products, and this page describes only Aether.

2. Information we collect

None. We do not collect, receive, transmit or store any personal information from the Aether app. There is no sign-up, no account and no email address to give us. We do not use cookies, advertising identifiers, analytics SDKs or any third-party tracking.

3. What the app stores on your device

Aether saves the following in its own private storage on your phone, where only Aether can read it:

• Your check-ins and written reflections
• Your current mode and app settings
• Your safety plan and its progress
• Your emergency contact and doctor contact, if you add them
• Whether Aether Pro has been unlocked

This information is not transmitted anywhere. Uninstalling Aether removes all of it.

4. Your contacts and the crisis line

If you add an emergency contact or a doctor, their name and number are stored on your device only. Aether uses them to open your own messaging app or dialler with the number filled in. We never receive those details, and Aether does not send messages or place calls on your behalf.

The same is true of the crisis line in the Support tab. Aether only opens your own messaging app or dialler; that conversation is between you and the service. We are not part of it and cannot see it.

To show a crisis line that actually works where you are, Aether reads your device's network or SIM country, falling back to your device language setting. This is a country code only, it is read on the device, and it is never transmitted to us or to anyone else. We do not read your location, and the app requests no location permission.

In countries where we do not have a verified crisis number, Aether offers a link to findahelpline.com, an international directory, rather than showing you another country's number. Opening that link hands off to your own browser and that website, which is operated by someone else and covered by their privacy policy. We send them nothing about you and receive nothing back. Following the link is always your choice.

5. Encrypted backups

Aether Pro can create an encrypted backup of your entries. Backups are encrypted on your device with a passphrase you choose, using PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256 key derivation and AES-GCM encryption, and are saved through your phone's own file picker to wherever you choose to put them, such as your own cloud drive. Backups are never uploaded to us and we have no copy of them and no way to decrypt them. If you lose the passphrase, the backup cannot be recovered by anyone, including us.

6. Purchases

Aether Pro is a single one-time purchase. Payment is handled entirely by Google Play. We never see or receive your payment details, name, email address or billing address. Google Play tells the app only whether this purchase is present on the Google account signed in to the device. Google's handling of that transaction is governed by Google's own privacy policy.

7. Information collected by Google Play

Google Play may collect information about installs, and may collect crash and performance data from apps distributed through it. That collection is performed by Google, not by us, and is covered by Google's privacy policy. We do not add any crash reporting, analytics or logging of our own.

8. Sharing and selling

We have no data from Aether to share or sell, and we do not do either. Because nothing leaves your device, there is nothing to disclose in response to a legal request beyond the fact that we hold nothing.

9. Deleting your information

Your entries can be cleared from inside the app at any time. Uninstalling Aether deletes everything it has stored. Because we hold no copy, there is nothing to request from us and no account for us to close. Any backup file you created yourself remains wherever you saved it, under your control, until you delete it.

10. Children

Aether is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age.

11. Changes to this policy

If Aether ever changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and change the date at the top before that version is released. If a future version were to collect anything, we would say so here plainly rather than broadening the wording.
