Aether Support

If you need help right now

This page is for questions about the app. It is not a crisis service, and nobody here is monitoring it. If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency number.

In the United States and Canada you can call or text 988 at any hour. In the UK and Ireland, Samaritans is on 116 123. In Australia, Lifeline is on 13 11 14. Anywhere else, findahelpline.com lists verified lines by country.

Contact us

Email support@sevenalphalabs.com. We read every message. Aether is made by a very small team, so a reply can take a day or two.

It helps if you include your phone model, your Android version, and the app version from Settings. Please do not send us your reflections or anything about your health. We do not need it, and we would rather not have it.

What Aether is

Aether is a low-stimulation check-in companion. You tap how you are doing, in one tap, and it responds by getting quieter rather than louder. It keeps an end-of-day reflection instead of running commentary, and it keeps a crisis surface one tap away. It is a self-reflection tool. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose or treat anything, it is not therapy, and it is not an emergency service.

Common questions

Where do my check-ins go?

Nowhere. They stay in Aether's private storage on your phone. There are no accounts, no servers of ours, and no analytics. We cannot read them. The full detail is in the Aether privacy policy.

How do I delete everything?

Uninstalling Aether removes everything it has stored. There is no account to close and nothing to request from us, because we hold no copy. If you made a backup file yourself, that file stays wherever you saved it until you delete it.

I bought Pro and it is not showing

Pro is tied to the Google account that bought it, not to the phone. Make sure the Play Store is signed in to that account, then open Aether again. It checks with Google Play on every launch and restores the unlock on its own. If it still does not appear, email us with the order number from your Play Store purchase history.

The Unlock button says Pro is not available in my country

That message is accurate, and it is not something you can work around. Google Play distributes apps to more countries than it processes payments in, so in a small number of places Aether installs and works but Google cannot sell anything inside it. Rather than show you a button that could never complete, the app says so plainly. Everything in the free version is unchanged, and none of the free features are time limited.

How do I move to a new phone?

Aether Pro includes Encrypted Device Sync. It writes a backup file, encrypted on your device with a passphrase you choose, and saves it through your phone's own file picker to wherever you want it, such as your own Drive or OneDrive folder. On the new phone, pick the file and enter the same passphrase. The backup never comes to us.

Because we never hold it, a lost passphrase cannot be recovered by anyone, including us. Write it down somewhere before you rely on the backup.

How does Aether pick which crisis line to show?

From your device's network or SIM country, falling back to your device language. That is a country code, it is read on the device, and it is never sent anywhere. Aether asks for no location permission and does not read your location.

We only ship numbers we have checked against the operator's own published details, because a wrong crisis number is worse than no number. Everywhere else gets the international directory rather than another country's number. Those verified lines today:

United States988 Suicide & Crisis LifelineCall or text 988
Canada988 Suicide Crisis HelplineCall or text 988
United KingdomSamaritansCall 116 123
IrelandSamaritansCall 116 123
AustraliaLifelineCall 13 11 14

If your country has a national line we have not added, tell us and point us at the operator's own page. We will not add a number from memory.

Aether shows my emergency contact but will not call them

That is deliberate. Aether opens your own dialler or messaging app with the number filled in, and you send it. It never places a call or sends a message on your behalf, and it never contacts anyone automatically.

I tapped the wrong thing

Use Undo Last Tap on the Today screen. The streak is meant to be gentle, not a scoreboard, and it hides itself at zero rather than showing you a nought.

Can I get a refund?

Pro is a single one-time purchase, not a subscription, so there is nothing to cancel. Refunds are handled by Google Play rather than by us, through your Play Store purchase history. If Play turns you down and you think the app is at fault, email us and tell us what happened.

The app is only in English

Correct, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise. Aether is available in most countries but the app itself is English only at the moment. The crisis lines above are chosen by country regardless of the language your phone is set to.

One important note

Aether is a self-reflection tool. It is not a medical device, it does not provide diagnosis or treatment, and it is not an emergency service. If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency number.
